Key Features of DeltaPAT 3309 BT
Backed by years of positive feedback and now reaffirmed in our hands-on testing in 2025, the DeltaPAT 3309 BT continues to be one of the industry's most balanced and dependable PAT testers.
It's a favourite among tradies, maintenance teams, and test and tag service providers who need portability, speed, and confidence in their gear.
Unlike other testers that feel flimsy or overly complicated, the DeltaPAT is built tough, feels solid in hand, and doesn't overload you with unnecessary menu systems. Whether you're testing five items or fifty, it's designed for efficiency and reliability in the field.
Battery and Mains for Total Flexibility
Unlike many older testers restricted to mains power, the DeltaPAT 3309 BT can run on either mains or its inbuilt rechargeable battery. It gives you true flexibility - ideal for jobs across multiple locations or sites where power access is limited or not guaranteed.
And when it's plugged in, the unit charges itself automatically (no external battery charges needed).
Clear PASS and FAIL Indicators with Easy Interface
The DeltaPAT features a large monochrome screen that's easy to read indoors or outdoors. Test progress and final results are clearly shown, and the green/red side LEDs give you instant PASS or FAIL results. It's these little usability features that save time and reduce frustration when you're working quickly.
Memory and Reporting Tools
The DeltaPAT 3309 BT can store up to 1500 appliance test records internally. Each entry can include details like asset ID, make, model, location, serial number, and test result. You can then export the data to your PC using the included PATLink PRO software via USB or RS232, allowing for smooth record-keeping and easy and professionally looking report generation.
In-built Isolation Transformer
Unlike many testers in its category, the DeltaPAT includes a built-in isolation transformer - a massive win for users who previously had to fork out extra money and carry a separate transformer to perform particular tests. The built-in transformer effectively makes the entire setup simpler, safer and much easier to transport.
Bluetooth + Upgrade Options
Built-in Bluetooth lets you wirelessly connect the unit to compatible Android devices and printers. You can expand the setup down the track with:
-
Test & Tag Printer – for automatic on-the-go tag printing.
Barcode Scanner – to streamline retesting and asset management.
Android App Integration – using the aPAT app for running tests, data entry and retesting.
This modular approach gives you the freedom to scale up as needed - without paying for extra features you won't initially use.
New in 2025: Metrel released a firmware update that noticeably improved Bluetooth pairing and stability, especially with wireless printers. If you've used older versions before, you'll find the updated experience much smoother.
How it Performs in the Field
In 2025, we still see the DeltaPAT 3309 BT used by many individuals across Australia - especially in mobile environments like tradies, maintenance teams, and test and tag service providers. Its battery-powered option makes it highly portable, and its solid plastic build holds up well on the road.
Once you're familiar with the layout, it's a fast and intuitive test and tag machine. The large monochrome screen and side PASS/FAIL lights help speed things up, even when testing in low-light conditions.
Running your tests on the DeltaPAT 3309 BT can be done by either using the "Simple Test" option - which is a pre-loaded, labelled description of the test you're conducting - or by using the "Shortcut Menu", which provides access to over 70 pre-set codes for a variety of testing situations. Both approaches are designed for efficiency and flexibility, and each has its own appeal, depending on how experienced or hands-on you are.
Most importantly, it performs all tests required by Australian standards AS/NZS 3760, including both fixed and portable RCDs. The built-in Isolation Transformer removes the need to purchase a second device, helping to reduce setup time and general clutter, while its 15 amp operation will cover most common day-to-day appliances.

Drawbacks to Consider
Android-only compatibility has to be the main pain point we see. While the DeltaPAT 3309 BT includes Bluetooth support and can connect to Android devices for app control and wireless printing, it does not support Apple iOS.
It could be a drawback for users already committed to iPhones or iPads, as they won't be able to take advantage of some of the wireless features unless they switch to Android for test-related tasks.
We've found a lot of test and taggers will carry a cheap Android device purely for test and tag tasks.
Is it Worth the Investment?
If you're after a dependable, field-proven, and easy-to-use tester that works both on the bench and out in the field - the DeltaPAT 3309 BT is a smart buy. With all the required tests by Australian Standards, 1,500 result storage, Bluetooth, and an in-built isolation transformer, it's one of the most well-equipped PAT Testers in its price range.
You can start simple and build out your system over time with optional upgrades like printers and scanners. While the Android-only support might not work for everyone - for most users, it's not a dealbreaker. That's exactly why the DeltaPAT 3309 BT holds its place in our Top 5 PAT Testers for 2025.
